Is there anything in the error log? It could be a missing LaTeX installation.

You can even change the version number in your dummy key to 8.60.

Because WinFIG actually scans
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\AFPL Ghostscript
for any sub-keys and subsequently queries the first that it can find for the GS_DLL value.

Example:
If it finds "8.53" under
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\AFPL Ghostscript
it would next query
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\AFPL Ghostscript\8.53\GS_DLL

Therefore it should work with any GhostScript version that creates a registry entry according to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\AFPL Ghostscript\xxx\GS_DLL

I think the best is to implement another search for
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\GPL Ghostscript
in case "AFPL Ghostscript" was not found.

Actually, the line should look like this:
"C:\Program Files\gs\gs8.53\bin\\gswin32c.exe" -q -dSAFER -dBATCH -dNOPAUSE -sDEVICE=pngalpha -r96 -dEPSCrop -sOutputFile="C:\temp\texclip.png" "C:\temp\texclip.eps"

This ist the template that is being used:
\"%s\\gswin32c.exe\" -q -dSAFER -dBATCH -dNOPAUSE -sDEVICE=pngalpha -r%d -dEPSCrop -sOutputFile=\"%s\" \"%s\"

The first %s is replaced by the path to the GhostScript executable. This is the thing to check first. Is GhostScript installed and where? Is it configured in the registry under "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\AFPL Ghostscript"?

I'm also wondering why  it's
C:\WinFIG\"\gswin32c.exe"
and not
"C:\WinFIG\\gswin32c.exe"

Probably there is really a problem with the GhostScript version. Can you use regedit to check the registry for the installed versions?

You find GhostScrpt under:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\AFPL Ghostscript

Also, WinFIG shows a remark in the "about"-box regarding the version it will call for such operations.

Hallo,

das geht mit export nach PSTeX. Da wird eine EPS-Datei mit den Grafiken und eine TeX-Datei mit den Texten und Formeln erzeugt. Bei denen muß das Special-Flag gesetzt sein. Anderenfalls landen sie auch in der EPS-Datei.

Die TeX-Datei macht dann ein include auf die EPS-Datei. Wenn man dann die DVI-Datei nach PS konvertiert, ist beides wieder zusammen.

Ein bißchen genauer steht es in der FAQ.

Falls nicht latex, sondern pdftex verwendet wird, kann man auch den PDFTeX-Export verwenden. Dann werden statt EPS- Dateien PDF-Dateien erzeugt. Wichtig ist, daß dann ein GhostScript installiert ist, da das für die interne Umwandlung von EPS in PDF gebraucht wird.

yes, 8.53 is fine. 8.54 seems to have at least one font with wrong metrics. It hink Bookman is sligthly too big, but maybe it was another one.

Yes, some settiings are stored at the beginning of the file. You can see it in a text editor. You still have to set it for each new drawing, but my assumption ist that this is not so often.

right now only some preferences are stored. You can see by opening regedit and navigate to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WinFIG

Version 4.x and later stores the settings in: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\AndreasSchmidt\WinFIG

It always stores the last used values as defaults. Probably you are right and it would be nice to store grid, magnet, units, zoom, page size and orientation too. I will see if I have some time to do it.

The GhostScript path is determined by looking into the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\AFPL Ghostscript

Then WinFIG picks the first entry it finds. If you have 8.13 and 8.53, it would pick 8.13. This is perhaps not the most elegant way, but I did not really consider machines with more than one GhostScript on them.

Right now you can probably only remove the 8.13 installation. Actually I would do that. Or is there a special reason why you still need the 8.13?

Perhaps it would work to install 8.53 and then 8.13. This could place 8.13 after 8.53 (but I did not try). In that case WinFIG would choose 8.53.

You cannot move texts with "move point". You use the "Pointer" tool (upper  left in the toolbar). It's the same that you use for moving any other object.

hmmm, ja, stimmt. Muß ich mal nachschauen, ob ich den Grund finde. Ist in der aktuellen Version jedenfalls immer noch so.

LaTeX ist etwas eingeschränkt. Ich würde PSTeX nehmen. Damit sind die Grafiken in PS und die Texte in TeX. Das steht im FAQ, erster Eintrag.

Die Seite scheint mir aber etwas veraltet, denn dort werden noch die LaTeX-Packages psfig und epsfig verwendet. Man sollte wohl besser graphicx nehmen.

Ist auch nicht mehr nötig. GhostScript muß nur installiert sein. Es wird aber nur für den Export in Bitmap-Formate (PNG, JPEG...) und PDF gebraucht. Für EPS und LaTeX braucht WinFIG es nicht. Zum Drucken ist es aber dann wieder praktisch, weil man das TeX ja in PS umwandelt (mit dvips).

Sorry, das fig2dev.exe war eine Debug-Version. Ich habe die Exe ausgetauscht und das Archiv noch mal auf den Server geladen.
